Job Description
The Customs Entry Writer is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of import shipments by preparing and filing customs documentation in compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations. This role involves working closely with importers, customs officials, and internal teams to facilitate the clearance of goods while ensuring adherence to all applicable trade laws and regulations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, knowledgeable about customs procedures, and experienced in handling a high volume of import transactions within a logistics environment.
Responsibilities:
Prepare, review, and process import documentation, including customs entries, invoices, and bills of lading.
Classify goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and ensure proper duty and tax calculation.
Communicate with CBP, PGA (Partner Government Agencies), and other regulatory bodies to ensure compliance.
Monitor and track shipments to ensure timely clearance and delivery.
Maintain compliance with all federal regulations, including U.S. CBP, FDA, USDA, and other governing agencies.
Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to resolve clearance issues.
Manage documentation related to duty drawbacks, customs bonds, and trade programs (e.g., CTPAT, ISF filings).
Assist in post-entry audits, corrections, and appeals as necessary.
Stay updated on changes in customs laws, tariffs, and international trade agreements.
Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries and ensuring seamless import transactions.
Maintain detailed records of all import transactions and ensure data accuracy within internal systems.
Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Various Shifts Available)
Skills:
Ability to interpret commercial invoices, packing lists, and trade agreements for compliance.
Excellent attention to detail with excellent data entry and organizational skills.
Effective communication skills for liaising with clients, government agencies, and internal teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) and general computer literacy.
Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) certification is a plus.
Experience with FTZ (Foreign Trade Zone) operations or duty drawback programs.
Knowledge of international trade compliance programs such as CTPAT and ISF filing.
Experience working in high-volume logistics, freight forwarding, or customs brokerage firms.
Excellent problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to resolving clearance issue

Experience:
4-7 years
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in customs brokerage, import/export operations, or international logistics.
Excellent knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, HTS classification, and import documentation.
Experience with customs brokerage software (e.g., CargoWise, Descartes, SAP GTS, or similar).
Familiarity with Partner Government Agency (PGA) requirements (FDA, USDA, DOT, etc.).
