Role Details

We're looking for a talented UX Designer to join our team and help us build intuitive, beautiful, and highly functional software for our clients. In this role, you'll work directly with those clients and our development team across the entire design process, from user discovery to initial ideation to fast prototype iteration to pixel-perfect execution.  If you love translating complex challenges into simple, elegant solutions, we want to hear from you!

This is a remote role and can be located anywhere in the US, with a preference for the greater DC (DMV) area. This role requires the ability to pass a United States federal government Public Trust level 4 background check, and is only open to U.S. Citizens.

Responsibilities:

  • User Experience (UX) Design: Dive deep into user needs with our client stakeholders, creating personas and mapping out user journeys to ensure our software is truly user-centric and easy to navigate.
  • Rapid Prototyping & Wireframing: Quickly build and iterate on prototypes and wireframes, bringing ideas to life efficiently to test concepts and gather early feedback.
  • Translate Data into Insight: Examine client data in spreadsheets, databases, and other formats and design visualizations that provide understanding of it at a glance.
  • Craft Engaging Interfaces: Bring our client’s software to life with stunning high-impact visual designs, focusing on layouts, typography, and color to create a seamless experience. You'll also participate in reviews to keep things running smoothly.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with client stakeholders, developers, product managers, and other stakeholders; gathering and writing requirements, conducting demos and feedback sessions to ensure client needs are met quickly and smartly.
  • Test and Learn: Gather feedback, conduct usability tests, and iterate on your designs to continuously improve and deliver the best possible experience.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of proven experience in full-cycle software design (from wireframing and prototyping to high-fidelity mockups), ideally across a product portfolio.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing your UX and UI design skills, including examples of rapid prototyping and iteration.
  • Advanced proficiency with Figma.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with experience working with cross-functional teams and external clients.
  • Significant experience with usability and accessibility. We strive for full 508 and WCAG compliance, and believe better accessibility is better for everyone.
  • A user-centered mindset and a passion for creating intuitive products.
  • Development skills are not required, but are a strong bonus. You will be expected to be able to pull the latest version of your work from a repo and run it locally to test the implementation of your designs.
  • Understanding data, and the basics of relational databases, mathematics, and data science is a strong plus.

Target Salary (depending on experience & location): $100,000 - $140,000
