Role Overview:
As a TVI, you will play a pivotal role in the educational journey of students with visual impairments, spanning various age groups. You will adapt teaching strategies and materials to cater to each student's unique needs, ensuring an inclusive and effective learning experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver Remote Instruction: Provide engaging and tailored educational sessions for students with visual impairments, using a variety of digital tools and platforms.
Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Collaborate with students, parents, and other professionals to create and implement personalized learning plans that address specific goals and challenges.
Adapt Curriculum: Modify lessons and educational materials to ensure they are accessible and effective for students with varying levels of visual impairment.
Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with families, educators, and support staff to foster a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
Monitor Progress: Regularly assess and document student achievements, adjusting teaching strategies as needed to ensure continuous improvement.
Advocate for Assistive Technologies: Provide guidance on the use of assistive devices and adaptive tools, empowering students to maximize their independence and learning potential.
Qualifications:
Educational Background: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education with a specialization in Visual Impairments.
Licensure: North Carolina state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI).
Experience: Proven track record of working with students who are blind or have low vision.
Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using various remote teaching technologies and platforms.
Soft Skills: Strong communication, organizational abilities, and a knack for working independently while managing a flexible schedule.
