STATE PARK INTERPRETER I (PERMANENT INTERMITTENT) – CENTRAL VALLEY DISTRICT / INTERPRETATION AND EDUCATION / CALAVERAS BIG TREES STATE PARK
The reporting location for this position is Calaveras Big Trees State Park in Arnold, CA. This position will work under the direction of State Park Interpreter III.
The State Park Interpreter I (PI) performs the front line interpretive work of planning, research and development of interpretive projects and programs. The State Park Interpreter I serves as the lead volunteer coordinator for over 100 active volunteers at the park in multiple supporting roles. This position also assists in implementing interpretive programs including welcome stations, Junior Ranger programs, campfire programs, guided walks, K-12 education programs, and more. The position is responsible for working closely with the team of interpreters to accomplish the tasks necessary to operate, protect, and maintain the park and its interpretive programs to the highest quality standards. The Interpreter I may called upon to assist other park units within the district or throughout the park system as needed. Come and join the Calaveras Big Trees SP team!

Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
This position may work up to 1500 hours in any calendar year.
This position is designated as not telework eligible.

Work will be performed in both an indoor office environment at a computer workstation.
