Job Description

Strong Hearts in Buffalo, NY is looking for a baker to join our team. We are an entirely vegan restaurant located at 295 Niagara Street on the lower west side. We are open 7 days a week and we have a small, but tight-knit and reliable bakery team. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, ambitious, reliable, and experienced with commercial baking methods as we produce for both our Buffalo and Syracuse locations. The expected weekly total hours will be around 32-38. Once the training period is complete, this position would be for the 12pm-8pm shift.

What You’ll Do 

• Follow established recipes to produce large batches of various baked goods such as cupcakes, cake layers, cheesecakes, cookies, bars, etc.
• Prepping various sized batches of fruit toppings, chocolate ganache, and buttercream in 80qt batches to be used for production.
• Ensure the quality of ingredients and finished products, maintaining high standards of freshness and presentation
• Packaging completed product for sale.
• Follow all food safety procedures and maintain cleanliness of all kitchen spaces used during your shift. Sweep the area and take the trash out at the end of day. 

What We’re Looking For

• Bakery experience is preferred as this position requires prior knowledge due to the fact that you will be working independently most of the shift once training is completed.
• Bakery problem solving skills ex. if dough is too wet how can you fix it?
• Passion for baking and genuine love for the art of it with a desire to create delicious, memorable treats for our community.
• A meticulous eye for detail and a commitment to quality.
• The ability to work well with others and also thrive independently.
• Willingness to accept feedback and continue learning.
