Terabase’s Mechanical/Industrial is an important member of the Terabase Autonomy team, reporting to the Autonomy Team leader. As a member of this team you will work, learn, and grow in Terabase’s unique operating environment and culture: high-growth, innovative, lean, and values-driven. This role involves developing and deploying advanced autonomous/robotic systems and embedded software solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in robotics, embedded systems, and software engineering, with a focus on continuous integration and deployment.
This role is primarily in-person at our Terabase R&D Facility in Davis, California. Some remote work may be considered but will require approval from the leader of the Terabase Autonomy team. Travel will be required to support autonomous system testing at customer project sites approximately once per quarter, with two weeks' notice provided before any travel request.
Responsibilities - Support the Autonomy team with component, interface, and enclosure designs to enable design, prototyping, and integration of robust functional autonomous systems
- Collaborate across teams with work on parallel but related product development efforts, including design and prototyping of components for our Teranet field network and smart equipment platform, including our Beacon vehicle telemetry product
- Work effectively with distributed teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality of designs and prototypes
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree or Certificate in Mechanical Design, Industrial Design, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical and industrial design
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
- Strong prototype manufacturing skills
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with distributed teams
Preferred Qualifications - Experience in designing components and enclosures for autonomous systems
- Previous experience in prototyping and product development
- Familiarity with the design and integration of autonomous systems
- Strong organization and/or project management skills
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing project requirements and timelines
