Industrial Designer - Mid Level

Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)

Seeking a mid-level Industrial Designer to join a fast-paced, innovative, and collaborative Industrial Design team. You will design the form/function/experience of specialty security products for top consumer electronics brands, retailers, and internal New Product Development (NPD) projects. Working with the latest technology, you will have the opportunity to shape the retail experience, collaborate with passionate individuals, and push designs quickly through to production. Ideal candidates demonstrate leadership, have the curiosity and drive to get to the right solution, and push a strong aesthetic vision.

Responsibilities

• Deliver elegant and creative product concepts that maintain InVue’s Best in Class capabilities while aligning with specific customer’s requirements, brand language, and user experience.  
• Engage directly with customers and internal stakeholders to present ideas/concepts/designs/trade-offs/manufacturing feasibility. Must incorporate feedback in quick iterative cycles on multiple projects.  
• Must have strong problem-solving skills, engage in cross functional collaboration and ability to communicate clearly.  
• Prototyping, sketching, 3D modeling/surfacing/rendering is needed to demonstrate the utility of design concepts.  
• Excellent understanding of product design principles: high focus on aesthetics, ergonomics, usability, and manufacturability.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in the Industrial Design field.
• Experience in the consumer electronics industry or retail design industry desired. Experience may be flexible with a strong portfolio.
• BS/BA degree in Industrial Design or Product Design.
• Professional references. Must have experience working with multi-disciplinary teams with a high level of ownership and well-developed communication skills.
• Portfolio (.pdf) that demonstrates 3D visualization, diversity of work across categories/materials. Include success stories moving from concept through manufacturing. Value designs that are thought out, manufacturable within the parameters given, and with timeless design aesthetic.
• High Proficiency in applicable 2D and 3D software:
• SolidWorks preferred, Rhino3D.
• Strong Keyshot skills, Adobe CS Suite, PowerPoint/Keynote etc.
