Human Resources Generalist
Job Summary
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the daily HR activities at the Bolingbrook, IL manufacturing plant. This position provides front-line support to Filmquest team members, and is the main contact for all benefit, pay, and job-related questions. The individual will build strong working relationships with onsite leadership and will cultivate a strong community culture.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all operational HR functions: including recruiting, benefits administration, HRIS, payroll, employee relations, employment law, performance management, culture, employee engagement, and training.
- Process weekly and ad-hoc payroll.
- Benefits administration.
- Build sustainable relationships with team members, site leadership, and corporate office.
- Update HRIS for relevant team member changes, ensuring compliance and data integrity.
- Administer leave of absence programs, including FMLA, disability, workers’ compensation and personal leaves in accordance with law and company policies.
- Responsible for recruiting qualified job applicants for open positions; Provides innovative ideas for recruitment strategies in order to attract top talent.
- Provide exceptional internal customer service to all team members for absence and health issues, conduct and capability, grievance matters, organizational change, and all other employee-relations matters.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local pay and employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Responsible for administration of annual performance management process.
- Communicate, facilitate, and champion HR programs and company-wide initiatives such as corporate communication, employee engagement and recognition programs; provide support for various HR activities.
- Resolve associate relations issues by conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
- Work closely with HR team members and leadership to maintain positive working relationships, build morale, and increase engagement.
- Responsible for onboarding new team members, including new hire paperwork, benefits enrollment and scheduling/facilitating new hire orientation.
- Manage temporary staffing for Filmquest plants. Establish and maintain relationships with talent agencies to ensure quality service.
- Support and coordinate engagement activities and recognition programs.
- Serve as subject matter expert to team members for benefits, time and attendance, and payroll issues and inquiries.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Required Skills, Education, and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
- Three or more years of related HR experience, preferably in a generalist role
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification strongly desired
- Previous experience processing payroll a plus
- Experience in supporting manufacturing environment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and exercise good judgment and discretion in handling and disseminating information
- Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness
- Proficient in HRIS and payroll systems, and comfortable learning new technology.
- Strong conflict management skills and comfortable participating in difficult conversations.
- Excellent time management and organization skills. Must have the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment, re-prioritize based on business demands coupled with a strong sense of urgency.
- Exhibit confidence and not be afraid to ask questions to bring clarity, share ideas and challenge the norm (think outside the box).
- Proactive, self-directed, and motivated; not afraid to "roll up your sleeves."
- Strong internal and external customer service focus and a passion for innovative HR solutions and process improvement.
- Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of HR federal laws and regulations

- Less than 10% out of state travel required

The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $80,000 per year, based on experience.
