The Vision Products Group (VPG) is looking for an Experience Designer to help us push the limits of the next generation of interactive experiences on our platform.
Apple Vision Pro is a revolutionary spatial computer that seamlessly blends digital content with your physical space. It will allow us to do the things we love in ways never before possible - all while staying connected to the people around us.
This hands-on Experience Designer position entails working with an Emmy® Award-winning cross-discipline team to transform visionary ideas and concepts into groundbreaking content. We are looking for someone who is ready to jump into a world of innovation and R&D-someone with a proven track record for shipping complex projects under demanding timelines.
**Description**
As an Experience Designer, you will be the point person for crafting interactive environments in immersive experiences. The ideal candidate brings expertise in the design of virtual environments, as well as creative insight into story structure and pacing for interactive entertainment. You will have one foot in development and the other in production as you work closely with a team of designers, artists, animators, engineers, and more to deliver innovative, genre-defining experiences.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee the design of experiences in collaboration with a cross-discipline team, with a focus on environment layout, experience flow, story pacing, and integration of interactive mechanics.
- Partner with Technical Experience Designers as the main point of content integration for other departments.
- Work on both internal R&D prototyping and shipping projects.
- Take risks and fail, then learn from those failures as part of the creative process.
- Continuously look for opportunities to improve how tools and processes are executed.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Passion for creating imaginative experiences powered by cutting-edge technology.
+ 10+ years shipping interactive entertainment experiences.
+ Shipped at least one high profile experience in a level design or game design role.
+ Mastery of design philosophy for interactive entertainment experiences.
+ Expert in Maya, Blender, 3D Studio Max, or equivalent for level design.
+ Expert in realtime 3D game editors such as Unity, Unreal, or similar.
+ Familiar with scripting or programming real-time experiences using Javascript, C#, Unreal Blueprints, or similar.
+ Excellent problem solving, creative thinking, communication, and presentation skills.
+ Desire to grow interactive entertainment beyond traditional experiences.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ BA/MA, Game Design / Level Design, Architecture, or relevant industry experience.
+ Experience in spatial computing, VR, or AR design.
**Pay & Benefits**
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $121,600 and $230,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
