Overview

The Director of Security will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy and roadmap for Worldpac. The key to success will be to forge strong relationships across the entire organization to identify security vulnerabilities and potential threats to develop a comprehensive strategy for prioritizing business decisions. The bond forged between the Security team and the rest of the Worldpac will be paramount to ensure the program is aligned on risks and focused on complete transparency.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Influencer: The Director of Security should have experience creating and driving the overall security posture throughout an organization. The Director of Security will identify current needs, as well as anticipate future needs. One who can articulate risk and put together a balanced, proper security plan: not overly conservative but business-risk based. This will require the ability to convey complex security related concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences alike.

  • Domain Expertise: The Director of Security shall have a proven background in security leadership ideally possessing the following areas of expertise on scale:
  • GRC: The Director of Security will possess a strong knowledge of standards and information security in a highly regulated space while ensuring ongoing company compliance including exposure to controls around the Service Organization Control 2 (SOC 2), NIST 800-53, HITRUST, California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), IS0 27001 and 27018, Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), and various other laws and regulations including Executive Orders will be ideal. Ensure security practices comply with relevant industry regulations and standards. Prepare regular reports and metrics for executive leadership on the status of the security program and risk landscape.
  • Security Engineering: The Director of Security will have experience implementing world-class Security programs, keeping data safe for Worldpac’s assets as well as its employees and customers. Should have experience with designing and implementing security assurance practices including threat modeling and penetration testing and possess in-depth knowledge of common application, infrastructure security vulnerabilities, mitigations skilled at implementing secure modern Identity and Access Management (IAM), deployment and continuous improvement of MDR and CrowdStrike solutions for advanced threat detection, response, and incident management. Drive the organization’s vulnerability management program using Tenable, ensuring regular scanning, risk assessment, and remediation tracking.
  • SOC and Incident Management: The Director of Security will be closely involved and should be able to Coordinate incident response processes and manage escalated security events, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to address threats efficiently and effectively
  • Securing the Public Cloud: The Director of Security shall have a deep understanding of cloud computing architectures and security challenges with running multi-tenant environments at scale in public cloud environments particularly in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Awareness training: Drive process improvements within security operations and foster a culture of security awareness across the organization. Identify, evaluate, and deploy new technologies to enhance the security posture.
  • BCDR Plans: Help establish and maintain Business Continuity Plans (BCP), ensuring deliverables are met annually. Collaborate with the business to define requirements, prioritize systems, and conduct annual disaster recovery (DR) exercises to test resilience within our product stack.
  • Security Evangelism: The Director of Security will advocate and represent Worldpac’s approach to security including product strengths, roadmaps, and key differentiators. Drive strategic initiatives to enhance our cybersecurity posture and protect critical assets.
  • Exceptional Communicator: The ideal candidate shall be an excellent storyteller with the ability to articulate a clear vision that balances technical expertise, pragmatic understanding of the security landscape, principled decision making, user empathy, and data analysis.
  • Credible External Posture: In addition to the heavily focused internal scope, the Director of Security will also be responsible for guiding, narrating, and elevating the company’s external security posture and narrative.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 5 years in a managerial role overseeing security engineering and operations teams.
  • Hands-on experience with Expel MDR, CrowdStrike, Tenable, and related security technologies.
  • Strong understanding of threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management, and security monitoring tools.
  • Expertise in cloud security frameworks, standards, and best practices.
  • Experience with security assessment tools and methodologies.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing security teams.
  • Experience mentoring and developing team members, promoting skill growth and career advancement within the security team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex security concepts to non-technical audiences.


Pay Range

USD $160,500.00 - USD $214,500.00 /Yr.
