Department Summary

The Epidemiology department in the Fielding School of Public Health is a national leader in preparing a new generation of epidemiologists. Through specialized methodologies, epidemiologists identify, track, and analyze how diseases and other conditions are caused, transmitted, and prevented, as well as how they are distributed throughout the population. Such information plays a critical role in guiding policies and other evidence-based strategies to promote health and work toward health equity. The vital importance of epidemiologic research was highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic, in which epidemiologists have helped to track outbreaks and provide guidance on how the virus spreads in community settings.
Position Summary

Looking for a self-motivated, dedicated problem-solver, detail-oriented, collaborative, and reliable individual to support PI's research goals. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with expertise at analyzing, planning, and accomplishing goals and objectives within the Epidemiology department.

Salary & Compensation

*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications

• 1-2 years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified (Preferred)
• experience with scientific approach and methodologies. (Required)
• experience in understanding of the principles, concepts, methods, and standards of statistical research. (Required)
• experience in applying a range of advanced statistical techniques in support of scientific research studies and/or experiments. (Required)
• Ability to process computer data and to format and generate reports (Required)
• Ability to consult with scientific investigators, interpret research requirements, and determine statistical analysis strategies (Required)
• Ability to plan, create, program and manage complex statistical computer databases. (Required)
• Ability to analyze, interpret, and draw conclusions from complex statistical information. (Required)
• Knowledge of current and emerging trends in advanced statistical analysis for scientific application. (Required)
• Knowledge of SAS programming and/or other statistical software. (Required)
• Knowledge of scientific reporting and manuscript preparation requirements and standards. (Required)
• Ability to work in a team environment to design, analyze, and report on research projects. (Required)
• Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to professional personnel in area of expertise. (Required)
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of probability and medical statistics theory. (Required)
• Knowledge of data management principles and regulatory requirements for clinical trials and medical research. (Required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

• PhD in Biostatistics or equivalent combination of education and experience (Required)
